Hello!

It has been quite hectic around here lately. With submitting applications to various agencies seeking funding for projects needed in the City. Some of the applications submitted have been successful.

We were selected for funding from TDRA STEP grant to replace the aging water distribution lines. The existing lines are being located as we speak and the engineering firm has begun the process of laying the plans for construction and materials. We also received funding from TCEQ Solid Waste Program to purchase the new trailer for the collection of brush and other material.

Last month we began working on a long range plan for the City identifying and prioritizing various projects to implement in the near future. As you can see we are steadily attempting to improve the quality of life in the community, it takes time.

The Public Works crew is trying to keep up with the brush, cardboard and metal collections. Sometimes, especially with the brush, we no sooner pick up one brush pile and another shows up. So bare with us, we will get your pile as soon as we can.

There are plans being worked on to have a recycling firm with car crushing equipment to come in to our town. This is in an effort to rid the Coty of some of these unsightly vehicles that are scattered around town. I ask all residents to take advantage of this opportunity to get rid of a vehicle that is no longer of any use. I would also like to remind the residents that any vehicles left on City easement may be subject to a citation and/or removal. Anyone interested in participating and has a vehicle to be recycled may call City Hall for further information.

I guess this is all for now, oh one more thing, I ask all residents to be on the lookout for those individuals that continue to think that any City street or vacant lot can be used as their private garbage dump. If you see anyone illegally dumping materials or garbage in the City, please call the Police Chief or City Hall. With your help we can stop this illegal dumping and help get this City cleaned up.

Until next time.
